Refinishing of an Old Desk

This desk is from the 50s, not of great quality. It was to be a simple project with not much before painting preparation. No sanding!

I took the desk apart as much as possible. I cut 4 holes into the back panel for electric outlets.

I primed with Bullseye 123 primer which I think wasn't really necessary. A couple of coats of the red would have been enough. The wood has a lot of grain and I figured it would be better.

Continuing the Transformation

The red is Benjamin Moore's Umbria Red #1316 in eggshell. Any deep red would work as well.

I painted over the red with Benjamin Moore's Low Luster Metal/Wood Enamel in black.I then wiped off some of the black paint on the edges with a rag to expose the red.

This was a fun project. Now the last part to my Home Theater is complete.
