This is an automatic door for the chicken coop that runs on batteries for up to 4 years. It will open at dawn and shut at night time according to a lightsensor or a preset timer. This has been the best investment for me. No longer do I have to be home every evening to shut the chicken coop door before a hungry possum or racoon is looking for a meal. Their service is great, I had my order within 10 days from the UK. The opener can be bought along with a timer and a door. With a little adjusting, I was able to use my existing door.
Update 2015: similar doors are available in the US.
